Frequently Asked Questions
Everything You Need to Know About Termite Prevention and Elimination
What Is Sentricon® and How Does It Work?
Sentricon® is a termite baiting system developed in the United States to achieve complete colony elimination. The bait is placed in stations around the building, allowing worker termites to carry it back and share it throughout the colony until the entire colony is eliminated.
How Long Does It Take to Eliminate an Entire Termite Colony?
Generally, it takes approximately 30–45 days, depending on factors such as the size of the termite population in the colony, environmental conditions, and the severity of the infestation at that time.
Is the Sentricon® System Safe for Residents and Pets?
The system offers a high level of safety because the active ingredient in the bait, Recruit II, specifically targets the termite molting process. It does not affect people, pets, or the environment and has received the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
How Is the M Factors Sentricon® System Different from Conventional Chemical Treatments?
| Chemical barrier treatment creates a protective barrier, but it does not eliminate termites at their source—the colony. It may also require drilling into building surfaces to inject chemicals. | The Sentricon® System targets the source of the termite problem without drilling into building surfaces. It requires no dispersed chemical spraying and provides more sustainable, long-term monitoring. |
Why Choose M Factors as Your Sentricon® Service Provider?
M Factors is an Authorized Professional officially certified by Corteva Agriscience, the company behind Sentricon®. Our management and technical teams are trained to international standards and provide precise, consistent monitoring to ensure reliable, long-term termite protection.
Is It Necessary to Install the System If No Termites Have Been Found in the House?
Yes. It is highly recommended as a preventive measure. The Sentricon® System provides “active protection,” with stations installed around the building to detect and eliminate termites attempting to enter the home before they can cause actual damage.
Will Home Extensions or New Landscaping Affect the System?
Changes to the property may affect the placement of the bait stations. Customers should notify M Factors so our team can assess the area and adjust the station locations to ensure effective coverage of any new risk areas.
